Organic Rap to “Rethink What you Drink”

Honest Tea Rappers

You heard me right, organic brand Honest Tea has broken out with a rap for people to rethink what they drink.

This hilarious video is an attempt to persuade people . . . I think . . . to stop drinking all the horrible sodas and non-organic grown tea and give the USDA Organic life a chance. Fo rizzle?

I don’t know about you, but I think this video is funnier in a sad way than funny in a good way. Sure, this brings out the inner white hoodlum in me, makes me want to ‘bust a cap’ on anyone sprayin’ those pesticides, and stop helping Grandma across the street, but is this rap really going to get people to ACTUALLY switch to organic?

I can admit that there are some benefits with organic, but what is their brand position? What are they saying about themselves? That we’re out of touch middle age white guys who know better than you and you need to ‘get in touch’ with our liquid manna?

Listening closer to the rap, it sounds like they’re targeting women. Trust me, breaking out into white man rap is not the way to impress the ladies. I have had many lonely weekends because of this simple truth. Don’t worry ladies, MediaPost reports that this is part of a year-long educational campaign.

The rap, although funny, needs the marketers to ‘rethink’ what they rap.
